‘Overexposed’

Overexposed is part of my Earthscape series. With these pieces I wanted to speak about humans as keepers of the earth. Looking at various environmental problems and trends I realized that I had to address some of our short comings as guardians. This piece speaks to both our turning away from nature and creating a personal vulnerability as we turn towards electronic communications. In this time of COVID-19 it also highlights our increased reliance on social media and electron communication.

This piece was juried into the Orillia Museum of Art and History’s Carmichael Canadian Landscape Exhibition: Tradition Transformed. It was awarded the Paul Quarrington Multidisciplinary Arts Award. The exhibition is on from October 3rd until January 17th. Open hours and days can be found on their website. www.orilliamuseum.org
